Why Western Civilization Is Morally, Culturally, and Philosophically Superior to the Islamic World as It Exists Today

The Data, The Doctrine, and the Dangerous Delusion

If we are to wage a battle for truth, it must begin not with euphemisms or apologies—but with the courage to look directly at the evidence. We are told, repeatedly and reflexively, that Islam is a “religion of peace,” that Muslim cultures are merely “different but equal,” and that criticizing any belief system, no matter how brutal its effects, is a form of bigotry.

But facts are stubborn things.

And the facts, drawn from dozens of independent international studies, reveal a grim and indisputable reality: the Muslim world is, by and large, defined by authoritarianism, violence, religious intolerance, and cultural regression. Not just in theocratic dictatorships, but in the minds of everyday citizens—millions of whom support practices and ideologies that the Western world rightly considers barbaric.

Let’s consider the hard data.

I. The Pew Global Attitudes Survey: Quantifying Extremism

The Pew Research Center conducted a landmark study in 2013 titled “The World’s Muslims: Religion, Politics, and Society”—a comprehensive survey across 39 countries with large or majority-Muslim populations. What it uncovered should have set the world ablaze with moral concern. Instead, it was buried beneath the sandstorm of political correctness.

Here are just a few of the results:

Support for Executing Apostates

• Pakistan: 88%

• Egypt: 86%

• Jordan: 82%

• Palestinian territories: 62%

• Iraq: 59%

• Malaysia: 62%

Let that sink in. The majority of Muslims in these countries believe that if someone changes their religion—if they leave Islam—they should be put to death. This is not a fringe interpretation. It is doctrinally rooted, widely accepted, and fervently defended.

Support for Stoning Women for Adultery

• Pakistan: 89%

• Afghanistan: 85%

• Iraq: 84%

• Palestinian territories: 51%

These numbers are not simply numbers. They represent millions of people—millions who believe that a woman accused of adultery should be buried to her chest and struck with rocks until she dies. This is not culture. This is cruelty masquerading as virtue.

Support for Honor Killings

• In many Muslim-majority countries, including Iraq and Afghanistan, majorities or near-majorities justify the killing of women and girls by family members to “restore family honor.”

• Sharia as Official Law of the Land

• 99% in Afghanistan,

• 91% in Iraq,

• 89% in the Palestinian territories,

• 74% in Egypt,

• 71% in Jordan

Want Sharia to be the official law—not merely a personal moral guide, but the force of state coercion, imposed not just on Muslims, but often on non-Muslims too.

Applying Sharia to Non-Muslims

• In the Palestinian territories, 66% of those who favor Sharia believe it should apply to non-Muslims as well.

This is not peaceful. This is not tolerant. This is not compatible with human rights. This is totalitarianism wrapped in divine justification.

And yet, this is what Ilhan Omar, and much of the radical Western Left, continuously excuses, enables, or outright supports.

II. Cultural Suicide by Multiculturalism

The West, particularly Europe and the United States, has been committing slow-motion cultural suicide by treating all belief systems as equally valid, regardless of their fruits. We have been taught that to question Islam is to commit a moral crime, that to say one culture is better than another is “xenophobic,” and that to analyze data like the above is “Islamophobic.”

But consider the West’s values—our actual values, not the invented sins of colonialism or systemic bias conjured by woke academics, but the real fruits of Western civilization.

• Freedom of speech—not just tolerated, but protected as sacred.

• Freedom of religion—to believe or not believe, to convert, to dissent.

• Legal equality for women—not as property, not as second-class, but as full human beings.

• The separation of religion and state—ensuring both are protected and neither is corrupted.

• Science and reason—not as tools of blasphemy, but as engines of progress.

• Individual rights—enshrined in law, upheld in courts, guaranteed by governments.

These are not universal. They are not default settings. They are rare, hard-earned, and under constant assault—especially from the ideologies that dominate the Muslim world.

The West builds civilizations where rights are unalienable. Radical Islam builds regimes where rights are conditional—granted or revoked by the ruling cleric, the tribal elder, or the Quranic judge.

III. Islam Is Not Just a Religion—It Is a Political Doctrine

At its core, Islam is not just a set of personal spiritual beliefs. It is a comprehensive political, legal, and military system, embedded with centuries of jurisprudence, most of which is incompatible with democracy, secularism, or pluralism.

This is not speculation. It is written explicitly in the Quran, the Hadith, and centuries of Islamic legal consensus:

• “Fight those who do not believe in Allah…” (Quran 9:29)

• “Whoever changes his religion, kill him.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 3017)

• “I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify that there is no god but Allah.” (Sahih Muslim 22)

Most Muslims are not terrorists, but most Islamic societies are shaped by these teachings, and many millions of Muslims believe in them—not metaphorically, not figuratively, but literally.

This is why Musab Hassan Yousef’s testimony is so vital. As the son of Hamas’s founder, he has said:

“Hamas is not a national movement. Hamas is a religious movement with a goal to conquer, not to liberate. Their ultimate goal is an Islamic caliphate, not just to liberate Palestine.”

“Hamas does not care about the lives of Palestinians, or Israelis, or Americans. They do not care even about their own lives. They consider dying for their ideology a way of worship.”

He defected. He exposed them. And what did Ilhan Omar do? She kept defending them. She kept lying for them. She kept aligning herself with an ideology that a defector literally born into it called a “death cult.”

IV. The Myth of the Moderate Majority

One of the most persistent lies told by the Western press is that most Muslims are peaceful, tolerant, and modern—that only a small, fringe minority supports violence or Sharia or theocracy.

But the numbers betray this myth. If even 20% of the global Muslim population (roughly 1.9 billion people) supports extremist views, that is nearly 400 million people—more than the population of the United States. In reality, the actual percentage is often much higher.

There is no other religion or ideology on Earth where hundreds of millions of adherents actively support religious violence, honor killings, blasphemy laws, and global theocracy.

Westerners live in sanitized liberal bubbles that confuse passivity for moderation and absence of violence for presence of virtue. The truth is that many so-called “moderate” Muslim societies—Egypt, Jordan, Malaysia—systematically enforce laws and norms that strip women, minorities, and dissidents of all rights.

V. A Civilization Worth Defending

So let us say it without apology:

Western civilization is superior.

Not because of arrogance. Not because of race. Not because of history.

But because it enshrines universal human dignity, while radical Islam offers only conditional submission.

Because it protects the rights of atheists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, gays, feminists, apostates, comedians, philosophers, scientists, and even its harshest critics.

Because it is based not on coercion, but on consent.

Because it has lifted billions from poverty, cured diseases, launched satellites, invented democracy, and offered more freedom to more people than any other culture in history.

No other civilization on Earth—including any Islamic one—has ever done this.

And the radical Left’s alliance with Islamic theocrats is not merely hypocritical—it is civilizational treason.

Courage or Collapse

If we want to survive as a culture that values liberty, then we must rediscover the moral courage to declare—not whisper, not suggest, but declare—that some cultures are better than others.

There is no “innocence” in a population that cheers when Jews are burned alive. There is no “peace” in a religion whose holy texts command the killing of apostates. And there is no “equality” in a civilization where women are property, gays are hunted, and critics are beheaded.

The West is not perfect. But compared to the darkness offered by the ideology that governs much of the Muslim world, it is a beacon of light.

We must defend it—without apology, without compromise, and without shame.
